The Haverhill Art Association was created to promote art and provide an environment where artists and art enthusiasts could communicate and share. We were established in the spring of 1985. A lot has happened since our inception and we continue to grow and expand as the world of art broadens. Our members are adept at both classical and more contemporary forms of art. From portraits in oils to clay/stoneware pottery, pastels and charcoal to digital photography.

Members of the association share their work via the annual exhibit. This exhibit is held at Haverhill's prestigious Buttonwoods Museum. A wine and cheese reception kicks off the gala which is open to the public for 2 weeks. Other smaller exhibits occur throughout the year including our popular "Art in the Park" held outdoors at the Bradford Common. Several "mini exhibits" are planned this year to allow artists specializing in a particular media to show off their works with that of their peers.

This year we will be planning several events aimed at allowing artists to work and socialize together. Several group photo shoots are being planned as well as a get together to allow landscape artists a chance to paint "en plein aire" sharing the camaraderie of their fellow association members. Such events are likely to be followed by a public exhibit to display the fruits of the event.

We will also be organizing several informal social gatherings this year held in some of Haverhill's finest social establishments. Feel free to join us at such landmarks as The Peddlers Daughter for a libation or two. The conversation promises to be centered around... well... art of course.

Every other month or so we invite an accomplished artist to demo and discuss their work. Such demonstrations are usually hosted at the Haverhill Public Library auditorium. Experienced artists bring in samples of their work and produce a fresh work to allow demonstration of technique. It's a great way to learn as the conversation is open and typically crisp. Light snacks and soft drinks are served. Just another way to get out and about with your association friends and co-artists.

We also have bi-monthly workshops in which we pose models and set up still life's to allow our members to hone their skills.
