An active member of the Suncook Valley Artists Association (Epsom, NH), Roland Ricard was named Artist of the Month and earned First Place and Second Place prizes in recent competition. The equality of his painting has also been recognized at the Naragansett Art Festival (First Place, Oils - Landscape Division), and the Wickford Art Festival (Second Place, Oils - Still Life, and Honorable Mention. Oils - Portraiture) in Rhode Island. At the Blackstone Valley Art Fair in Massachusetts, he was awarded First Place in Oils - Seascapes, and First Place in Cartooning. The artist's background includes teaching Acrylic Painting and Basic Drawing in an adult education series at North Shore Community College, Peabody MA., and serving as Cartoonist for NLI Magazine, Burlington, Vermont. He was the Lead Cartoonist for EZ-Rock Radio in Concord, NH, Creating caricatures and other artwork for the station. In addition to his Business Management education at Northern Essex Community College, Haverhill, MA., Ricard's training includes courses through Famous Artists School, Westport CT., and Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, RI. He is a former member of the South County Art Association, Kingston, RI, and the Wickford Art Association, Wickfork, RI. As Print Shop Manager for RealWorld Corp. in Concord, Roland was responsible for operating and maintaining state of the art reproduction equipment to produce complex documents for the software company. At Heidleberg Harris, Inc., of Dover, NH., he was extensively involved in technical illustration projects, and also created a corporate animated character and a pioneering training video that earned worldwide use. Other career highlights include illustration work for Dynamics Research Corp., the Analytic Sciences Corp,. and Western Electric. He also was Art Director/Artist for CaroVans, designing and hand-painting murals on van exteriors and managing other aspects of vehicle customization. Roland's Iroquois/Mohawk Heritage has helped him appreciate the beauty and spirituality of the land, animals and people that he paints. Roland's current and future life quest is to learn to improve on his passion for painting the portrait and human form. He enjoys being with creative, artistic people and the wisdom we all share.
